THE SOMER SUNSHINE SCHOLARSHIP
To help individuals take the Darkness to Light Stewards of Children online training, MBF is offering the Somer Sunshine Scholarship to residents of Northeast Florida.
Somer Thompson was a beautiful, happy seven-year old girl who was abducted, sexually assaulted, and killed by a sexual predator. While this is not the norm when it comes to abuse (most children are abused by someone they know and trust), our goal is to ensure ALL children grow up safe and happy!
As a part of the Prevent 360° initiative with Darkness to Light, we are offering the Stewards of Children online training at no cost to residents of Northeast Florida.
This scholarship is provided by the generous support of Children’s Safe Passage and the Somer Sunshine Foundation and is offered in loving memory of Somer Thompson.
Stewards of Children is an evidence-informed, award-winning program, which has been taught to over 1.7 million adults worldwide to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The program is appropriate for school staff, parents, and other concerned community members.
Northeast Florida residents (in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, or St. Johns counties) wishing to use the scholarship to access the online training can register here.
For those outside the Northeast Florida scholarship area, Stewards of Children training is available for just $10.00 through this link.
