Account Management Specialist, Growth & Strategy

Jena believes that the strongest work happens when people feel genuinely seen and supported, and she's built her entire career around making that true. As an Account Management Specialist on the Growth & Strategy team, she serves as a dedicated point of contact for MBF's accounts, working to ensure that every facilitator and partner around the world has what they need to bring prevention education to the children in their communities.

Jena comes to MBF with a background that spans nonprofit advancement, operations leadership, and client relations. A Northeast Florida native through and through, she spent years in higher education at Jacksonville University, where she also earned her MBA, before moving into operations and client services roles that sharpened her instinct for building systems that serve people well. What's always stayed constant is her drive to do work that truly makes a difference.

Outside of MBF, Jena's commitment to kids shows up on the dance floor — she has spent more than half her life teaching tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, and clogging to students ages 3–18 at Callahan Dance Academy, the studio she grew up dancing at herself. She lives in Nassau County, FL with her husband, Kyle, and their two cat children, Phineas and Ferb. Jena's idea of a perfect day involves a new coffee shop discovery, a good book, and enjoying the Florida sunshine somewhere near the water.

Ashley Garrett

Chief Executive Officer

Ashley has spent nearly 30 years building on a single conviction: every child deserves to grow up feeling valued, respected, and safe. As CEO of the Monique Burr Foundation for Children (MBF), she sets the strategic direction for one of the nation's leading child safety organizations — driving mission growth, organizational sustainability, and the partnerships that extend MBF's reach into schools and communities across the United States and globally.

MBF programs grow alongside children from early childhood through adolescence, grounded in the whole-child realities of the communities MBF serves. Under her leadership, MBF develops and scales evidence-based prevention education that equips children, families, and educators to prevent, recognize, and respond to abuse, exploitation, trafficking, bullying, and digital dangers. Through the Foundation, she leads a philanthropic strategy that invests in the broader child safety ecosystem — partnering with funders, researchers, and community organizations to advance the field, not just MBF's place in it.

Ashley brings nearly three decades of experience across the nonprofit, federal, and international sectors to the work of building an organization as strong as its mission. She leads with curiosity, humility, and equity, holding herself accountable to the children and communities MBF ultimately serves.

Ashley holds a Master of Public Administration from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Colorado. She lives in Washington, DC with her son and rescue dog.

What They're Saying...

The MBF Teen Safety Matters curriculum hosts an in-depth approach to important social and safety concerns relevant to youth. The program content is age-appropriate with engaging activities, jargon, and realistic situations to positively promote a relatable and impacting learning experience…Teen Safety Matters is an educational benefit to all parties involved – students, parents, facilitators, and schools.

There’s not a child in the world who can’t benefit from this program. There are so many instances where we see children who have been damaged and hurt. Things happened to them and we think, if they’d only had this program, if they’d only had the benefit of this education, that might not have happened to them. If we can prevent that from happening to a single child, then it’s worth all the effort we have put forth

The MBF Child Safety Matters program is impressive. This important information is well formulated and well presented, developmentally appropriate, and based on good understanding of literature.
