MBF Prevention Education Programs are comprehensive, evidence-based and evidence-informed primary prevention programs for youth in grades K-12 and meet the USCCB guidelines for children’s personal safety education.
MBF (the Monique Burr Foundation for Children) is an ‘approved’ PSL vendor for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.
MBF Prevention Education Programs educate and empower children and youth to prevent, recognize, and respond appropriately to all types of child abuse, bullying, cyberbullying, digital dangers, exploitation, and trafficking.
BASED ON RESEARCH
- Comprehensive, evidence-based programs teach the MBF 5 Safety Rules© and strategies following research and best practices in prevention education.
- MBF Child Safety Matters® has been found to be a quality and effective program by four independent research studies. MBF is committed to ongoing research of all programs.
- Use active learning strategies and reinforcement materials.
- Program lessons are age- and developmentally appropriate.
PRACTICAL AND EASY TO USE
- Easy to implement with just 2 fun and engaging classroom lessons for students. Lesson times range from 35 to 55 minutes in elementary school and 55 minutes in middle and high school. (Programs can also be presented in 4 shorter lessons.)
- Facilitators use a standardized curriculum with facilitator scripts and engaging, interactive PowerPoints including lecture, group discussion, skills-practice activities, videos, and games.
- Certified Facilitators are trained prior to implementation via in-person, virtual, or online training.
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS
- Facilitators have access to the curriculum and a variety of additional resources via a password-protected Facilitator Portal.
- Ongoing Facilitator support is available to schools and organizations.
- Educational materials are available for parents and staff including PowerPoints, Safety Briefs, and four online courses.
- Programs include parent reinforcement materials, which increase communication with parents and keep parents the ultimate authority in their child’s life.
- The programs have been tested and are supported and trusted by schools, organizations, parents, and experts.
